Dropbox Cloud StorageKeeping your files and photos secure is so important, and the best way to do this is to back up your hard drive. One popular and convenient method of back up is cloud storage, which means your files are saved online (don’t worry, they can only be accessed with your permission).

Dropbox is an excellent cloud storage option, and I’d highly recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a versatile application that allows you to save and share your files and photos. Not only can you give others access to your files, but you can also open them on any computer, and most Wi-Fi enabled devices (tablets, smart phones, etc.).

Sound good? Well, there’s more. Here are the top 10 reasons I love Dropbox.

1. Easy to Use

Unlike some cloud storage applications, Dropbox is easy to use. Navigating the browser version of Dropbox is simple and intuitive, and downloading the application makes things even easier – Dropbox will just appear as another folder on your computer. If you’re looking for a back up or file sharing solution that won’t be a headache to use, check out Dropbox. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

2. Share Your Files

Dropbox is by far one of the easiest ways to share files with others, whether that’s work content with your colleagues, or holiday snaps with your family. In fact, I’ll go so far as saying Dropbox has revolutionized the way we work and play online.

3. Mobile Accessibility

When you download the Dropbox App to your tablet or smart phone, you can access the files saved to your Dropbox anywhere, anytime. Plus, there’s no need to download every file, just those that you need. This will prevent your device filling up with unnecessary files.

4. Public Access

In addition to allowing only select contacts to access your Dropbox files, you can share publicly. This is a great way to give family members access to your photos.

5. Login Anywhere

You can access your Dropbox account from pretty much anywhere in the world. All you need is an Internet-connected device. The device doesn’t need to have Dropbox installed, as your files can be accessed by logging in to the Dropbox website.

6. Devices Sync

If you’re working on a project from your work computer and you save it to Dropbox, you can update the same file on your home computer, smart phone and tablet. This is so handy, as you can work from anywhere without worrying about saving the file to a USB or emailing it to yourself and ending up with multiple copies.

7. Additional Features

Dropbox has thought of everything, and here are a few examples of user-friendly, time-saving features:

  • If you accidentally delete a file from your Dropbox, don’t panic. Deleted files aren’t deleted permanently right away. Dropbox keeps these files for 30 days.
  • If you need to move a photo or file from one folder to another, you don’t need to upload the file again. This will save you time and bandwidth.

8. Dropbox Application

To make the most of Dropbox, I suggest installing the Dropbox application. This will create a folder on your computer that will function just like any other folder. You can then save files directly to your Dropbox, and by doing so, the files will sync online, and to any other connected device.

9. Dropbox for Back Up

Even if you don’t need to share files between devices or with others, you can still benefit from Dropbox. Dropbox can be used with or instead of an external method of back up, such as an external hard drive. You can sync some or all of your files to Dropbox, so if anything goes wrong with your computer you can easily retrieve important data.

10. It’s Free!

You can use Dropbox Cloud Storage without paying a single cent, and there are no hidden costs that will surprise you in the future. Dropbox offers 2GB of space for free, which isn’t enough to back up your computer, but is great for those who wish to share files with others or between devices. You can also get additional space free of charge by inviting your friends to Dropbox. When they sign up via your link, you’ll gain an additional 0.25GB.

If you do need more space, there are two options.

  • Dropbox Pro offers 1TB (1,000GB), and will set you back $12.99 per month.
  • Dropbox Business offers unlimited storage, and costs $17 plus tax per user per month.
