Apple’s latest and greatest offering is the iPhone 13, and it certainly delivers, with many new improvements and refinements to its standard design and features. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, then the iPhone 13 is well worth considering.
Notable features of the iphone 13
At a glance, the iPhone 13 offers the following improved features:
- Better cameras
- A noticeably brighter screen
- A newer processor
- Improved battery life
- Design tweaks
Let’s take a closer look
Let’s look into these features a little more closely, and see what they really mean for you as a prospective buyer.
Camera(s)
The camera upgrade on the iPhone is significant. Apple’s latest model features wide-angle, diagonally set dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, which means it’s great for taking photos and videos in dim light. The sensor has been upgraded also, so it captures more light, making photos clearer with less “noise”. Apple has added two key photography modes:
- Cinematic mode, which allows you to dynamically change the focus of your shot
- Photographic styles, which gives you a choice between vibrant, rich contrast, warm, and cool modes for photo editing
Display
The iPhone 13 has a 2532 x 1170-pixel OLED panel with True Tone colour management, and is noticeably brighter than iPhone 12 and 12 Mini models. In terms of size, the iPhone 13 offers a 6.1-inch display, and a 13 Mini version a 5.4-inch display which is a bit more pocket friendly.
The display is covered by a Ceramic Shield cover, is water-resistant to 6 metres for up to 30 minutes – definitely a bonus if your phone takes an unexpected swim with you – and has IP68 rating, meaning it meets the international standard for being able to withstand dust, dirt and sand.
Newer processor
Apple’s iPhone 13 and Mini 13 come with the new A15 bionic chip (5-core GPU for the Pro and Pro Max models, 4-core GPU for the standard 13 and Mini 13) which improves video and photo editing, augmented reality, FaceTime calling and gaming performance.
Improved battery life
Improved battery life is always a win, and if you’re upgrading from a previous iPhone model, you’ll notice the improvement in the iPhone 13’s battery capacity. How much better, you ask? With the standard iPhone 13, you’ll get at least a full day’s use on 4G and 5G, and up to two days with the Pro models.
Design
The design itself of the iPhone 13 hasn’t fundamentally changed; you’ll still see the same square-edge profile, but the top notch for Face ID is 20% slimmer, and the phone itself is 10 grams heavier. You have five colour choices, too:
- Midnight blue
- Starlight white
- Light pink
- Red
- Blue
Considering upgrading to the iPhone 13?
If you’re thinking about upgrading, or making the jump from Android to Apple, the iPhone 13 is a solid option. With better battery life, a newer and faster processor, brighter screen and rear cameras that pack a punch, you can’t go wrong – especially given that PC Mag Australia named it their Editors’ Choice winner.
