Mac vs PC. Which camp do you fall in to?
Given that Mac laptop and desktop computers cost more than PCs are they really worth it? Why do Macs have such a loyal following when, for less money, you could buy a perfectly good PC?
Here are 10 reasons why Macs are better than PCs.
1. The Mac Experience
User experience is very important when deciding what type of computer to buy. The operating system plays a big role in determining whether this experience is enjoyable or just plain frustrating.
Windows 8 was a disaster from a user’s point of view. Customers were not impressed with Microsoft’s attempt to incorporate touchscreen computing into their operating system. Microsoft listened to customer complaints, and Windows 10 is a drastic improvement. But Mac still has the edge. OS X El Captain is stable, clean, simple, and most importantly, easy to use. It’s a much better place to hang out, particularly with the seamless incorporation of mouse and track pad gestures.
2. Integration of Other iOS Devices
Anything from your iPhone or iPad will sync to your Mac computer. You can take a photo, save a document, even start an email on your iOS device and it will automatically appear on your computer. There’s no need to save anything to a cloud drive like Dropbox or Google Drive – all your devices will work together without any fuss.
3. There are Less Mac Options
This might not sound like a positive thing, but sometimes less is more. There are hundreds of PCs to choose from, so how do you know where to start? In contrast, there are less than ten Apple computers, which come with different specs. Knowing your budget and computer needs will make deciding on a model a breeze.
4. Great Software is Included
There is a huge range of excellent software available for PC computers that can do just about anything. Some can be downloaded free of charge, and others come at a cost. The thing is, this software isn’t usually downloaded on the machine straight out of the box. Macs, on the other hand, come with a myriad of useful apps, including:
- Photos
- iMovie
- Garageband
- Keynote
- Facetime
- iTunes
In addition, the Mac App Store offers a large number of apps specifically for Mac computers. And don’t worry, pretty much all your favourite Microsoft programs are compatible with Macs, including Open Office.
5. Macs are More Secure
Macs have shown time and time again to be much less vulnerable to viruses and hacking than PCs. The gap is closing, however, as many attacks are based online and hackers are more sophisticated in their techniques. You’ll still need to be cautious online, but for now Mac is the safest platform.
6. Quality of the Machine
Everyone knows that Macs are more expensive. If all you need is a machine to check your email and surf the web, maybe a Mac isn’t worth it. And, if you feel confident building your own computer, do that. But, if you’re looking for a top-quality device built with meticulous attention to detail that will last, get a Mac.
7. The Mac Screen
There’s no doubt about it – Macs have the best screens on the market. Yes, it has Retina display (which, we’ll be honest with you, is just HD display), but what’s more impressive is the anti-reflective coating and lack of air gap.
8. Every Component is Optimised
Each component in a Mac computer is optimised to perform well and use less power (hence the longer battery life). Although Apple computers use many of the same hardware components as PCs, Apple does a significantly better job at designing their operating system to take full advantage of these components. This is why Mac updates can actually improve the way different components work, and in some cases, can improve a machine’s battery life.
There is a negative to this. Because of the way Mac computers are designed, customising or upgrading many components is impossible. So if you’re after a fully customisable computer, a Mac may not be for you.

Many people who purchase Mac computers have no regrets. In fact, Mac has been at the top of customer satisfaction surveys for over ten years. This shows that for many, the extra cost is worth it.

The only thing on the list that’s remotely true is macs are more safe but maybe, just maybe, don’t go on suspicious websites or links? And you will be absolutely fine on standert windows. Also you can’t really get much performance out of a MacBook that turns into a ps4 when starting youtube
When was the last time you used a mac? Macs never ramp up the fans to an audible level.

I’m glad you talked about how Macs come with a better operating system and can have updates that improve components. My son is going to college soon and we’re deciding on what kind of laptop to get him. He says he wants a Mac and generally, we have always been a Mac family.

all those things can be downloaded via 3rd party apps. Therefore, there’s nothing really majorly different from Mac to PC other than pricing. for the screen, I think there are good options here and there.
point 9 isn’t a feature of a macOS.
no. 5 isn’t really true but the caveat is correct.
I feel no. 2 only works if you are in the Apple ecosystem. What if you’re not in it and you don’t want EVERYTHING to be an Apple device? that’s when it starts to suck.
Ofc, one can say, they custom build it for Apple users only and again, exclusivity only .
I respect those that can multi-platform their apps because that’s a lot of work and Windows, despite being “one size fits all”, it isn’t so bad that there is a slew of users ready to jump to their platform.
I am really looking for what’s the main differences other than one is based on unix and the other is based on their own NT architecture.
Fact is mac and pc are about the same – even with the m1. So mac areant always better than pc’s is a false statement. Sorry.
I used PCs because Macs didn’t exist.
Then I couldn’t afford a Mac.
When I finally bought a Macbook Pro,
I found out what a prehistoric peice of rubbish it was.
They successfully changed 4 or 5 QWERTY keyboard buttons.
Upgrading my phone to an iphone – threw it in the bin after 2 weeks.
Apple invent nothing.
iphone 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 now available in purple. ( battery may last beyond lunch – t+c’s apply)
apple watch 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ( refer to previous purchase to identify current model)
Less accessories included / modified to ensure incompatabilty , to reduce waste / landfill .

Should you wish to experience non Apple products – remain calm – breathe – type and operate as usual.
Safari = the internet, itunes = ( not sure ) , Trash = bin, or Bin = bin , icloud = anything you wish to never see again and probably lose in the future.
oh, and you’ll see a healthier bank balance, huge decrease in computer care / maintainance /upgrades / obselescence / calls to ‘customer support ‘ ( your call is important to them ….) ….

I have a 2008 and a 20014 Mac that still work.Never had any problem with them.Due to the fact that Apple makes those computers obsolete after 7-8 years and stops the updates,I am forced to buy another new Mac.I dislike this from apple but love their computers.Before Macs I had PC’s and they were nothing but trouble.I will never go back….its a Mac for me once again.
Macs are good if you’ve only ever used a Mac.
If you use both, the difference of Apples prehistoric and pointless
novelty features are obvious.
If you want to identify a Mac or iphone user, they are the one’s asking if you have a spare charger.
They also can’t hear you because the computer’s fans are constantly attempting to bring it within operating
temperatures because it is overclocking to run twice as fast as it should.

i think these are all really good points. another thing is the trackpad on macs. if you ask any mac user, the mac trackpads are WAY better than any other trackpad. other trackpads are actual buttons that you need to click, and left click and right click is only available on the bottom eighth of the trackpad. moreover, the quality and build of other trackpads are overall quite trash. apple on the other hand, use haptic touch just like their phones to click. so theyre not actually pressing a button, its like the home button on its iphones. macs also have force touch which is really good.
basically my point is that mac trackpads dominate basically any other trackpad in existence. also apples processors are really good. the M2 max (apples latest processor) is comparable to i8 processor, and i9 just about beats M2 max.
